The Back on My Feet 20in24 Midnight Madness Run

The 5th Annual Back on My Feet Midnight Madness Run REGISTER NOW

The 5th annual Back on My Feet Midnight Madness Race is Philadelphia’s only glow-in-the-dark run, which takes place on Saturday, July 14th at midnight (technically Sunday morning). The race is an 8.4 mile loop around Philly's Schuylkill River running path.  It starts and finishes in front of Lloyd Hall and will be open to 525 people (see the course map). All Midnight Madness participants will be required to wear some piece of reflective gear, glow sticks or paint. We also recommend that you carry a cell phone. The course will be well lit and marshalled by bikes and support vehicles that will constantly patrol the loop throughout the entire night. All Midnight Madness participants must be at least 18 years old on the day of the race, or have parents permission.

REGISTRATION

The registration fee is $55.

Please note that you are encouraged to fundraise your registration, instead of paying up front. You have until July 12th to fundraise your registration fee and an automatic fundraising page will be created for you when register. Those who fundraise their registration fee can become a Super Midnight Madness Runner by raising $500 or more and receive an official 20in24 jacket.  Take me to registration!

Please contact Jay Giller if you have questions or call 215-839-9310.

$500 will go to the 1st place male and female, $250 to the second place male and female and $100 to the third place male and female. There will also be an award for the most illuminated runner!

Packet Pick-up & Check-in

You are strongly encouraged to pick up your race packet on Friday night at Lloyd Hall (location of the start of the race) from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. If you absolutely cannot pick your packet up on Friday, you may do so on Saturday night between the hours of 10 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. at Lloyd Hall.

Start Time

The race will begin promptly at midnight and there will be a pre-race meeting at 11:45.

The Start/Finish Area

Situated on the banks and overlooking the Schuylkill River, just north of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Lloyd Hall is the only public athletic facility on Boathouse Row. This facility is air-conditioned and will be open the entire 24 hours to Lone Ranger and relay participants.

Stroehmann Re-Energizing Stations

There will be four re-energizing stations every two miles of the loop that will be stocked with plenty of food and fuels, bathrooms, sponges, medical kits, etc. Food items include fresh fruit, Clif bars, GU, pretzels, chips, etc. In addition, Lloyd Hall will have more substantial food, such as pizza, sandwiches, soft pretzels, etc. for the longer rests in between laps. GU20 and water will also be at every re-energizing station. In addition - there will be ice and wet towel stations every mile as well as a minimum of two misting stations on the course.

RUNNING AT NIGHT

While running at night, racers must either wear at least some piece of reflective gear visible from both the front and back – by not doing so, you will be disqualified. It is recommended that runners wear a headlamp and carry cell phone during the evening hours.

Pacers

Pacers are not allowed– no exceptions.

Street Closings

While we are encouraging participants to run on the path, West River Drive will be closed during part of the day, allowing runners to run on the street during that time. However, Kelly Drive will remain open for traffic and all runners must run on the designated path when on that side. During the evening hours, all runners must run on the path - no exceptions. For safety, we encourage participants to stay on the path throughout the entire race.

Parking

Parking will not be allowed at Lloyd Hall. Please use the map for alternative street parking. You may also want to consider getting dropped off, walking, or riding your bike (as long as it will not impact your vitals at check-in).

More Official Rules

Federal, state and county laws and ordinances must be followed at all times. There is only one road crossing, which will be manned, however there are some parking lots along the path. Watch out for cars entering/exiting parking lots. Obey all traffic laws.

While running a lap, stay on the designated course. Any racer that cuts the official course will disqualify that individual, or team from placing.
