Location
Lloyd Hall - this facility will be open for the entire 24 hours of the event for use by 20in24 participants.

Check-in

20in24 teams starting at 10 am may start checking in between 8 am and must and 9:30 am If you are a Bronze or Silver team that is starting at 6 pm, check in between 4 pm and 5:30 pm.

While one team member may check-in for the entire team, we recommend all team members be there for the beginning to make sure they don't have any questions. We will be notifying the crowd via a speaker system of runners who are 5-10 minutes away from the exchange area, and it is each runner's responsibility to be on site when it is his or her turn to run as the clock will not stop.

Packet Pick-Up

To avoid lines and delays on Saturday morning, you are highly encouraged to pick up your race bag on Friday, July 18th from 6 pm to 10 pm on the rooftop at Whole Foods located at 929 South Street in Philadelphia. Please note that one team member may pick up the bags for the entire team.

If you absolutely cannot pick up your bag on Friday, you may do so on Saturday morning at Lloyd Hall between the hours of 8 am and 9:30 am.

Please remember, if you are fundraising in place of paying your registration fee, the money for your respective category is due by Friday, July 18th. You will not be able to participate in the 20in24 if your total due is not paid. If you need an extension, please email Maureen O'Toole.

Course

Central Staging Area
Situated on the banks and overlooking the Schuylkill River, just north of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Lloyd Hall is the only public athletic facility on Boathouse Row. This facility is air-conditioned and will be open the entire 24 hours to all 20in24 participants. Inside will be able to sleep, relax, eat, watch movies, play video games and board games, get massages and even take a shower. In addition, a 24-hour secure baggage check will be made available to participants.

Re-energizing Stations

There will be three re-energizing stations every two miles of the loop that will be stocked with plenty of food and fuels, bathrooms, sponges, medical kits, etc.

Food items include fresh fruit, Clif bars, GU, pretzels, chips, etc. In addition, Lloyd Hall will have more substantial food, such as pizza, sandwiches, soft pretzels, etc. for the longer rests in between laps.

if you want to bring your own replenishment on the course, you must have it at Lloyd Hall by no later than 9:15 am on Saturday morning. We will drive it out to half-way point around the Loop. PLEASE make sure to put your items in an easy identifiable bag or container with your name on it. You may also store stuff at Lloyd Hall.

How It Works

Only one member per team can run at a time and each member must complete their share of the team total - one member cannot do another member's miles, unless there is an injury. For the silver, gold and platinum levels, the order of the runners does not have to be the same for each cycle, and runners are permitted to run more than one lap in a row. The non-runners can enjoy the amenities in Lloyd Hall while they wait for their turn to run.

All laps start and finish in front of Lloyd Hall within a designated exchange area. Race officials will monitor this exchange area for lap completion/initiation. All laps will be tracked by bib number and a bulletin board will publicly track completed laps and after each completed lap. The runner will also receive a mark on his or her bib when completing a lap. If a runner is running more than one loop at a time, his bib will be marked at the end of his leg.

Teams will be notified by loudspeaker within Lloyd Hall that their runner is approaching the exchange area. A ‘sighter’ identifying incoming runners is approximately ½ mile from the exchange area. This will give teams 4-10 minutes notice of an upcoming exchange. Runners will not need to carry a ‘baton’ during their lap.

Here you can find a bulleted list of the official rules and regulations

Running at Night

From sunset to sunrise, runners must wear some piece of reflective gear or paint. We also recommend that night runners carry cell phones. The course will be well lit and marshaled by bikes and support vehicles that will constantly patrol the course.

The Hand-off
Participants will start and finish their loop in the exchange area in front of Lloyd Hall. Once the current runner passes the first cone, the "on deck" runner may begin.

Timing
There will be two clocks on the course - one at the exchange area and one at the half-way point. 20in24 support crew will be recording times at the exchange area, which will track each runner transition.

The Final Countdown
In the last two hours of the race, runners will have the option to attempt a partial lap instead of a full lap to get in as many miles as possible. At 10 am on Sunday morning,an air horn will blow at all the refreshment stations and a sweep vehicle will come by to pick up all runners still on the course.

What's Included
All participants will receive a Goodie Bag with great 20in24 Nike memorabilia.

The Prizes
The top team in each category will receive cash prizes. In addition, the second and third place teams will also receive awards.

Minimum Age Requirements
All participants must be at least 13 years old. Platinum team members must be at least 18 years old.

Alternate and Substitution Runners
If a runner becomes injured or ill and is unable to finish his or her portion of the relay, the next runner in the rotation may substitute at the point of injury and continue or the team may use their alternate. If a runner substitution occurs, the injured runner should not run again. Teams are encouraged to have an alternate in case of injury. Runners are not allowed to substitute for speed.

Street Closings
While West River Drive Street will be closed during the day, allowing participants to run on the street on that side of the river. However, Kelly Drive will remain open for traffic and all runners must run on the designated pat when on that side. During the evening hours, all runners must run on the path - no exceptions.

What to bring
We recommend the following - some of these are more crucial for those running in the Gold or Platinum categories.
  • ID
  • Something reflective (vest, paint, tape)- required if running past sunset
  • Hat or visor
  • Cell phone - all runners are recommended to carry a cell phone when running in the dark.
  • Extra running shoes, shirts, shorts, socks
  • Shampoo, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, towel
  • Sleeping bag, blanket, pillow
  • Sunglasses, sunscreen, hat
  • Vaseline, running lube
  • Water bottle
  • Plastic bags for wet clothes, icing injuries
  • Personal choices for food and beverage - if you want to bring your own replenishment on the course, you must have it at Lloyd Hall by 8:30 am on Saturday morning. We will drive it out to half-way point around the Loop. PLEASE make sure to put your items in an easy identifiable bag or container with your name on it. You may also store stuff at Lloyd Hall.
